Firefighters Rescue Dog From Ledge

A dog that had fallen onto a ledge along the Spokane River was rescued Sunday by the Spokane Fire Department Rescue Team, fire officials said.

Firefighters were called to the banks of the Spokane River just north of Riverfront Park’s IMAX Theatre about 11:55 a.m.

They arrived to find a dog trapped on a small ledge. Owners told firefighters that the animal had hopped up on a wall, slipped and fell 30 feet to the edge of the river.

A firefighter was lowered down with ropes and rescued the uninjured dog, officials said.
