49 Degrees North Opens Slopes Friday

From Staff

49 Degrees North ski area has announced it will open Friday with at least two of its four lifts running.

The ski hill near Chewelah was the last of the area’s five resorts to announce its opening date.

Lookout Pass, on the Idaho-Montana border, was open Sunday and will reopen Thursday.

Also opening this week are Silver Mountain in Kellogg, which opens today, and Schweitzer Mountain Resort outside of Sandpoint, which opens Thursday for limited operation during the holiday weekend.

Mount Spokane is scheduled to open Dec. 5.

49 Degrees North will be open Friday through Sunday only for at least the first week of the season, although Mountain manager Eric Bakken said he hopes the resort will move to five-day-a-week operation soon.

Lookout is open Thursday through Sunday while Silver Mountain is open Wednesday through Sunday.

Schweitzer is scheduled to go to full-time operation Dec. 4.
