Flooding Disrupts Holiday

From Staff

Several Western Washington rivers, swollen by days of heavy rain, overflowed their banks with significant flooding, disrupting Thanksgiving for some residents of this Lewis County city.

The Chehalis River was running more than 4 feet above flood stage, the National Weather Service said. It was forecast to fall below flood stage by tonight.

Weather Service flood warnings were in effect Thursday for the Chehalis, Skokomish and Snoqualmie rivers.

The Skokomish was 1 feet above flood stage and falling slowly. The Snoqualmie near Carnation was nearly 2 feet above flood stage and expected to fall below flood stage by Friday morning.

The Snoqualmie flooded some pastures and local roads near the river from the town of Snoqualmie downstream to Duvall.
