How To Avoid Seasickness
Following are suggestions for avoiding seasickness offered by experienced charterboat captains.
Before a fishing trip, get a good night’s sleep and refrain from drinking alcohol.
Take motion sickness medication, such as Dramamine or Bonine, at least an hour before you get on a boat. If you wait until you feel seasick, it’s usually too late.
If you’ve never taken motion sickness pills before, take one the day before your fishing trip, then take another the morning of the trip. Your body needs time to get used to the medication.
If you’re on a big boat and feeling a little woozy, don’t go inside the salon. Instead, stay on deck and look at the shoreline.
Eat honey and saltine crackers when you feel sick. The honey provides instant energy and the crackers soak up stomach acid.
