Boeing Co. Sacks Another Top Executive
Another key executive has lost his job at Boeing Co. as a result of the company’s drive toward efficiency in the wake of last year’s production and financial problems.
Larry Clarkson, head of Boeing Enterprises, has been replaced by a deputy to Alan Mulally, who took over the Commercial Airplane Group from Ron Woodard on Sept. 1.
Tom Schick will head the new Customer Services Business Unit, including the functions of Boeing Enterprises, which will lose its name. The new unit will oversee customer and airline logistics support; modification and engineering services; FlightSafety Boeing Training International, a pilot-training venture; and Boeing Business Jets.
Some industry analysts said the move signals that what remains of Boeing Enterprises - which was responsible for several successful business ventures and strategic partnerships - will have a diminished role.
