State Regulator Oks Utility Territory Pact

The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission Wednesday approved an agreement that should end an ongoing feud over customers between two of the utilities serving the Spokane area.

Officials from Inland Power & Light Co. and Washington Water Power Co. negotiated final terms of the pact last month.

Terms outline each utility’s coverage area, or, where the boundaries are not clear, connects customers to the closest provider or gives them the choice of the one with the lowest rates.
