School Takes Part In Label Program
The St. John Vianney Catholic School has announced that it will once again participate in the Campbell’s Labels for Education program and the Box Tops for Education program run by General Mills.
Last year, the school sent in 60,000 Campbell’s soup labels, says Theresa Belknap, fund-raising coordinator of the Home and School Association.
For its effort the school received art project kits, educational videos, magnifying glasses, playground balls, computer software, a new atlas, an electric pencil sharpener and a basketball rack.
In previous years the school has replaced 1950 edition maps and received a new overhead projector.
The program is particularly helpful for the small private school with a bare bones budget since it provides extras that would never be purchased otherwise. “There isn’t any extra money for these things,” says Belknap.
The school began saving the General Mills boxtops last year and accumulated enough to receive $300.
Each green box top can be redeemed for 15 cents and each pink one is worth 10 cents.
The cash was used to give the school’s budget a little extra boost, says Belknap.
“We need all the extra money we can get.”
Anyone wishing to contribute to the programs may mail Campbell’s labels or General Mills boxtops to St. John Vianney School, 501 N. Walnut Road, Spokane WA 99206.
