Makeshift Line Puts Chiefs In The Win Column

Brad Ference did what 8,223 fans hoped he’d do Saturday night in the Arena.

He put on a clinic, and after he scored a goal and assisted on a second, the Spokane Chiefs are no longer winless.

But it was a makeshift line thrown together because of another key injury that gave the Chiefs the game-winner in a 3-2 comeback win over the Prince Albert Raiders.

Cole Fischer and Dan Vandermeer teamed up to put the Chiefs ahead to stay midway in the third period, when the veteran Vandermeer skated out from behind the net to put a shot on goal that bounced out to Fischer.

Fischer’s backhander gave the Chiefs their first victory of the season in their sixth game.
