A couple rototilling their garden Sunday found a grenade, according to the Spokane Police Department.

The grenade was discovered around 3 p.m. at the residence on the 13000 block of North Regal. The couple left the device alone after uncovering it and called police.

It was disposed of by the joint city-county Explosives Demolition Unit.

“They don’t know if it was a real grenade, a dismantled one or it could have been an imitation. It was pretty well deteriorated,” said Dick Cottam, police spokesman.
