WSU Ending Seattle Hotelier Program
Washington State University said Friday that it is closing its Seattle Center for Hotel and Restaurant Administration.
WSU told Seattle students earlier this week, saying it will end the program in the spring of 2000 so 40 current juniors and seniors can finish their four-year degrees.
Effective immediately, no new students will be accepted for enrollment in Seattle.
Officials said the decision was made to focus efforts on programs at the WSU Hotel and Restaurant Administration Program in Pullman, where 250 students are majoring in hospitality. WSU also plans to offer hotel and restaurant administration degrees at its Spokane branch.
The Seattle program was created in 1975 and housed at Seattle Central Community College. Most graduates received multiple job offers in Puget Sound and the program was one of the few in the nation that let students manage their own motel.
