Personal: Age 43. Born in Spokane, lives in Cheney. Joined Navy at age 18 and became air traffic controller and later worked for Federal Aviation Administration. Retrained in 1984 as electronics specialist and remained on active duty until retiring in 1995. Volunteered for Navy/Marine relief society and local schools. Avid outdoorswoman and member of VFW and American Legion.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in biology, Eastern Washington University. Currently working on bachelor’s degree in secondary education and master’s degree in embryology.

Finances: Has raised $5,500.
