Left in January, 1996 to help wife run Hansen’s Creamery; it closed in 1997. Elected to Legislature in 1996. Vice chairman, Criminal Justice, member, Appropriations and Financial Institution & Insurance committees. Volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, Trinity Baptist Church; counseled families to help avoid bankruptcy; teaches Sunday school. Member, Rotary Club, Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce. Married, three children.

Education: Associate degree, Grossmont College in San Diego; bacher of arts in business, Sacramento State University; master’s in business administration, Gonzaga University.

Finances: $41,956 as of Oct. 13 with $10,900 on hand. Recently gave the state Republican party $5,000 to donate to other races.
