Prayer, Not Psychics

In Italy, psychic matters play a role in everyday life. Morning TV shows air daily horoscopes, and celebrity interviews offer tips on how to decode dreams to get the best lottery numbers. But Pope John Paul II says it’s all hogwash. Speaking Sunday at his summer retreat outside Rome, he urged Italians to turn to prayer rather than psychics and astrology for spiritual guidance. “Neither horoscopes nor magic forecasts work. What works is prayer real prayer coupled always with a choice of life that conforms with the law of God.”
