Fair Mascot Tagged Legs Benedict

From Staff Reports

The chicken has a name. Say hello to Legs Benedict, the boot-scootin’ mascot for the 1998 Spokane Interstate Fair.

Spokane grain elevator operator Phil Passmore penned the winning name. The 52-year-old’s entry was one of more than 250 submitted to the Spokane Interstate Fair board.

For creating his winning entry, Passmore receives two family packs, including admission, ride coupons and food coupons.

Legs will be in costume throughout the fair, which begins Friday and runs through Sept. 20 at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center, Broadway and Havana.
