Spokane Teams Win Steelers’ Fall Roundup

FROM NORTH SIDE VOICE, N15 (Thursday, September 17, 1998): Correction The River City Steelers won the U-15/16 girls championship at the Fall Roundup soccer tournament over Labor Day weekend. The wrong team was listed.

Several Spokane teams won age-group championships in the 17th annual Fall Roundup soccer tournament.

The Labor Day weekend tournament, played at Mountain View Middle School and hosted by the River City Steelers Soccer Club, attracted 79 premier and select teams from throughout Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Montana.

The River City Steelers of Spokane won the U-13 boys championship, defeating the Helena Arsenal Blue 5-2 in the title game. Team members include: Aaron Biel, Kevin Bourland, Eric Burke, Joe “Patrick” Burke, Trevor Cross, Brandon Darnell, Benjamin Fairchild, Skye Henderson, James McDonald, Christopher “CJ” Moe, Jonathon “Cody” Nutsch, Michael Person, Aaron Ring, Travis Rund and Tyler Stoffel.

The Spokane Skyhawks won the U-13 girls championship, winning a shootout over the Portland Velocity after a 2-2 double-overtime tie. Team members include: Cassie Synder, Katy White, Lindsey Fischer, Lacey Perry, Amber Robinson, Amy McLean, Allison Fischer, Amy Shaver, Amanda Merrell, Danielle Fuller, Natalie Torker, Mikael Fuller, Allysa Eglet, Morgan Schmeltzer, Nicole McAllister and Vannessa Cadwallader.

The Spokane Skyhawks won the U-14 girls championship, defeating the River City Steelers 2-1. Team members include: Rachael Bauer, Laura Diluzio, Betsey Friedlander, Jael Hagerott, Kara Hamby, Katy Jones, Meredith Lynn, Emily MacKelprang, Megan Main, Heather Mires, Cristina Oliva, Jennifer Parry, Kali Richards, Sara Richardson, Mandy Schwartz, Allison Tenold, Brynjia Thorarinsson and Stefanie Yep.

The Spokane Falcons won the U-15 boys championship, defeating the Spokane Skyhawks 3-1. Team members include: Sean Adams, Matt Brown, Erik Bujnestad, Rob Caso, Kris Fischer, Cey Hughes, Steven Keppel, Ryan Oakes, Jan O’Neill, John Palladino, Peter Palladino, Jeremy Redding, Meiah Rowe, Ben Sawyer, Alex Umbdenstock and Luke Van Vabin.

The Spokane Express won the U-15/16 girls championship, defeating the River City Steelers 3-1. Team members include: Andrea Adamson, Kelly Altmaier, Sonia Brostrom, Sam Deleo, Brandi Duran, Sasha Edmunds, Melanie Frostad, Andrea Dutierrez, April Kawamoto, Kami Lundstrum, Taunya Pankey, Jessica Prewitt, Stephanie Ruby, Paula Soash, Devirie, Valdez, Beth Wert and Shauna White.

The River City Steelers won the U-16 boys championship, defeating the Three Rivers (Tri-Cities) Shadow 2-1. Team members include: Tom Basenberg, Jay Estey, Justin Hanks, Ryan Hartshorn, Ryan Loft, Joey Meier, Tony Perkins, Josh Proctor, Sam Stoner, Matt Trainor, Jesse Volesky, Kevin Walters, Steven Wells and Ronnie Sanders.

The Spokane Valley United won the U-17/18 boys championship, defeating the Spokane Falcons 2-1.
