The federal government wants to take advantage of John Glenn’s celebrity and fitness at age 77 - to motivate more over-age-50 Americans to get moving. “If you can only walk around the room or up and down the halls of the building or around the block once, do it. You don’t need equipment or a lot of expensive stuff,” said the retiring Democratic senator from Ohio who is booked to return to space on the shuttle in late October, more than 36 years after his initial space flight. Glenn is featured in a TV public service announcement and offered opening comments as the National Institute on Aging unveiled a free 100-page exercise guide.
