Matt Fox ran for touchdowns of 44 and 56 yards on Friday as Cheney opened its season with a 23-8 non-league win over visiting Post Falls (0-2).

Fox, a returning all-Frontier League running back, opened and closed the scoring in the game.

Fox rushed for 132 yards on 21 carries. Cheney’s Chris Oyolokor completed 6 of 13 passes for 103 yards.

EV’s Jim Clements, who coached CdA to a state title in 1985, improved to 4-0 against the Vikings.

EV defensive back Jeff Storey intercepted Kyle Ahlf’s pass at the Knights’ 10-yard line with less than 1 minute left.

Ahlf finished 16 of 27 for 250 yards.
