Regular Worship Resumes

Now that school has started, it’s time for Valley churches to resume their fall worship schedules and programs.

Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines, will kick off its Sunday school program for children and adults at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, a bit earlier than the usual start time of 10 a.m.

This Sunday, adults will have the chance to meet Charles and Wendy Bayer, educational missionaries serving in Australia. The Bayers will also speak at the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday.

A potluck barbecue will follow the worship service. Those attending are asked to bring their own meat and a salad or dessert to share.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 810 S. Sullivan, starts several new programs and schedules this week.

Sunday school classes will run from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., beginning this week. Ice cream will be served during class this Sunday.

Good Shepherd also begins its fall worship schedule on Sunday, offering services at 8:30 and 11 a.m. each week.

In addition, a parent meeting for those interested in attending the Logos youth program will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Logos is a family involved youth program that includes Bible study and recreation. Classes are each Wednesday beginning Sept. 23, with grades 1-6 meeting from 5 to 7:15 p.m. and grades 7-12 meeting from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The cost of the program is $35, which includes meals and materials. Scholarships are available.

Opportunity Presbyterian Church, 202 N. Pines, will begin its fall worship schedule on Sunday. Services will be offered at 8:30 and 11 a.m. with Christian education classes at 10 a.m.

Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2511 S. Pines, will switch to its fall schedule on Sunday, with the worship service beginning at 10:30 a.m. each week. Parents are also asked to register their children for Sunday school classes at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday. Classes will begin Sept. 20.

The church will also host a potluck picnic in Browne’s Park Sunday at 1 p.m.

Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway, begins its fall worship schedule on Sunday. Services will be at 8 and 10:30 a.m. each week.

Spiritual Center dedication

The cast from Spokane Theatrical Company’s “Sound of Music” will be performing at the dedication of the new Spokane Spiritual Center at 1445 N. Argonne.

Dedication ceremonies begin at 7 p.m. Friday.

An open house will run from 1 to 4 p.m. next Saturday. The afternoon includes stories and songs for children. Worship services are scheduled for 10 a.m. each Sunday.

New Hope dedication

New Hope Christian Fellowship will have a dedication service for its new church building at 4 p.m. on Sunday. An open house will run from 3 to 6 p.m. Child care will be available.
