Qbs Alternate For Saxons, Tigers

The football teams for Ferris and Lewis and Clark each have two capable quarterbacks.

So Saxon coach Clarence Hough and his Tigers counterpart, John Hook, are rotating who takes the snaps.

For Ferris, juniors Adam Oakley and Brian Lee took turns each quarter in last week’s 28-7 season-opening win over Central Valley.

Hough said his QBs were equally impressive.

“I didn’t see a noticeable difference,” the coach said. “They’re both the same age.

“I think we’ll be doing this for a couple years.”

LC senior Darrel Lockridge and junior Billy Etter alternated almost every series in the Tigers’ 7-0 victory over Gonzaga Prep.

“The more players who get early season experience, the better it will make our team later,” Hook said. “If both continue to perform well, both will continue to play.”

Three different Tigers played at the tight end, offensive guard and tackle positions and four at defensive end and two at center. The swapping at QB and center didn’t make for any exchange problems, Hook said.
