Camper Killed By Falling Branch

From Staff

A Seattle camper was killed when he was hit by a falling tree branch at Tacoma Power’s Taidnapam Park on Riffe Lake.

Steven De-La-Torre was playing cards with friends and was seated at a table Sunday afternoon when a gust of wind knocked a large branch from a tree, Lewis County Coroner Terry Wilson said.

The 7-inch-thick branch struck DeLa-Torre in the head.

De-La-Torre was taken by ambulance to Morton General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
