Man Cut During Robbery Near Store

From Staff Reports

A 38-year-old Spokane man was slashed on his arm late Tuesday during a robbery outside an East Central neighborhood convenience store, police said.

The unidentified victim was treated for cuts on his left arm and released from an area hospital.

The incident happened about 10 p.m. at the Circle K at 302 S. Altamont. A man who had purchased a soft drink walked out of the store and was approached by another man who asked him for money, police said.

Upon refusal, the assailant pulled out a knife and slashed the victim before running from the scene, officers said.

Officers spotted the suspect walking near Fourth and Thor and arrested him.

James A. Sumler, 39, was booked into the Spokane County Jail on a charge of first-degree robbery.
