Melouprey, a male white-cheeked gibbon, clings to his mother, Indah, as he makes his public debut Thursday at the Brookfield (Ill.) Zoo. The baby, born Dec. 16, will cling to mom for several more months before exploring on his own and will be dependent for approximately two years, a zoo spokesman said. Gibbons are small, slender, long-armed, tree-dwelling apes of India, China and the East Indies.
