WSU Regents Ok Branch-Campus Programs

Washington State University will offer a bachelor of science degree in computer science at its branch campus in Vancouver, regents decided Friday.

The school will also establish a separate bachelor of arts degree in computer science at Pullman and its branch campuses in Vancouver and the Tri-Cities, the regents decided.

The bachelor of science program focuses on software engineering, while the new bachelor of arts programs will extend software design to a variety of disciplines, including pure sciences, business and the liberal arts, regents said.

Regents also heard a report from Athletic Director Rick Dickson on plans for an indoor sports practice facility in Pullman. Dickson said the 86,000-square-foot facility will cost $13.8 million and be funded entirely by donors. It is expected to open December 2000, he said.
