Pullman Grad Returns To UI

Natalie Weeks, who red-shirted as a freshman on Idaho’s women’s basketball team in 1996, has signed a letter of intent to play for the Vandals this season.

A Pullman High School grad, the 6-3 post player has spent the past two seasons playing for Orange Coast Community College in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Washington State’s women defeated Stanford in a varsity eight race and UC Davis in a novice eight race at the Cougar Invitational Regatta at Wawawai Landing.

Because of gusty winds and white-caps at the starting point, the race course was shortened from 2,000 meters to 1,500 meters. The varsity four race between Stanford and WSU, was postponed until today.

In varsity eight action, the 11th-ranked Cougars defeated Stanford by 11 seconds.

Swimming

More than 150 athletes from four states, ranging in age from 8 to 23, will compete today and Sunday in the Lilac Invitational synchronized swimming meet at the Eastern Washington University aquatic center. Competition today begins at 9 a.m. and on Sunday at 7:30 a.m.
