Bead Hosts Needed
The new public boat launch area at Bead Lake will be open to anglers this spring only if someone can be found to serve as camp host, fisheries biologist Curt Vail reported.
Free use of the only campsite at the new access on the quiet Pend Oreille County lake is a perk the Colville National Forest is offering potential volunteers.
The access is tentatively scheduled to open for the first time on May 1, although anglers can carry portable boats around the gate to the water at any time.
Electrical and water hook-ups are provided for the volunteer hosts as well as a gray water dump tank.
No campground is associated with the Bead Lake access, which is scheduled to be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. through early October if a host can be found.
