Bloomsday Online Registration Extended

The deadline for Bloomsday registration by mail was Tuesday, but runners and walkers still can register online without paying a late fee.

Online registration has been extended due to problems Tuesday with the Bloomsday Web site, www.bloomsdayrun.org.

Entry fees for applications received at the Web site will remain at $8 until Sunday, when they will rise to $25.

Race coordinator Karen Heaps said the Web site was down much of Tuesday because of the huge volume of interest. Her office was flooded with calls from applicants anxious to meet the deadline.

About 2,000 applications were received online last year. At least 5,000 have been received this year.

Bloomsday, the largest timed road race in the country, will be May 2.
