Buddhist Leader Will Give Lecture
As part of its annual Japan Week lecture series, the Spokane Buddhist Temple will present a talk by Rev. John Iwohara, an ordained Buddhist minister from Seattle. He will discuss the impact of Buddhist teachings on the written and spoken word in Japan.
Iwohara is a Japanese-American who received his master’s degree in Japan and is a minister ordained in the Jodo Shinshu tradition.
The free lecture will start at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Spokane Buddhist Church, 927 S. Perry. It will be preceded by a Japanese teriyaki dinner from 3 to 5 p.m.
The public is also invited to a traditional Buddhist Hanamatsuri service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the church sanctuary. Call 534-7954.
