Fire Causes Outage In Pullman, Moscow
An electric pole that caught fire knocked out power for about 30 minutes on Friday to most of Pullman and Moscow, Pullman police said.
The outage occurred while restaurants and streets were busy with visitors in town for Washington State University’s Mom’s Weekend.
Traffic had to be directed by local police at many intersections until about 7:10 p.m. Pullman public works officials placed portable generators at some intersections to keep signals working, officers said.
Avista Utilities told officers that the fire occurred on a pole that serves as a main feeder for both communities.
