Comments Sought From Tincan Users

Managers of the Inland Northwest Community Access Network will have public meetings this week to discuss the possible transfer of the TINCAN computer network to another operator.

The meetings will run 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday in Room 222 of the Eastern Washington University Spokane Center.

EWU, which manages TINCAN, announced in February that it would unplug the network unless another group steps forward to take control.

At least six parties have expressed interest, officials said without naming the organizations.

Eastern is asking TINCAN users to cite the features and services they want a new operator to retain.

More than 40 agencies post information on TINCAN, which provides free e-mail and limited Internet access to 2,000 to 3,000 users every month.

Eastern said that TINCAN services will continue through June 30. For more information, call Ruth Galm at 359-7971.
