Send your sympathies, prayers, condolences and words of hope to the students at Columbine High School.

Our Generation wants to devote an entire page to the supportive thoughts that local high school students have for those coping with last week’s school shooting.

Send or deliver your thoughts in 75 words or fewer to Our Generation, 999 W. Riverside, Spokane WA 99201. Fax them to (509) 459-5098 or e-mail ourgeneration@spokesman.com. Submissions must be received by 9 a.m. Thursday.

Best Teachers contest deadline extended. We’re giving you an extra week to send in those nominations for the Second Annual Our Generation Best Teachers contest.

Junior and senior high school students are eligible to nominate in a one-page letter the best teacher they’ve had. Your letter should focus on the teacher’s creativity and innovative teaching style, sense of humor and how he or she shows respect for students and concern for students outside of the classroom. Nominations should be as specific as possible. Please include your full name, school, grade and the teacher’s name and class.

Get environmental. Middle and high school students are invited to attend the 1999 Spokane Youth Environmental Conference at Gonzaga University May 26. The deadline to register is May 7. For more information, call Lisa Woodard at (509) 477-4727, extension 115 or Ann Murphy at (509) 625-6535.
