The war being waged by local Republicans against the Ponderosa school PTO amuses this Potatohead. Oh, the cause is just. The PTO had no business using school materials and students to campaign for two Post Falls school trustees. But the GOPers aren’t without sin. Remember 1994? A week before the county commissioner elections, local Reprehensibles circulated a flier to 9,000 homes that claimed democratic incumbent Mike Anderson and independent Tom Daugherty were crooks and liars. No one ever owned up to the dirty trick, which helped Republican Dick Panabaker win. Finally, in 1996, small fry Margaret H. Eddy took a fall for the barracudas by paying an $800 fine. Remember that as you listen to the elephants trumpet now.
