Liberty Wing Under Construction
Liberty School District’s high school will have a new wing and a new library by fall, said district Superintendent Skip Berquam.
Liberty High School is under construction to add a four-classroom wing and a new band room. The old band room is being converted into a 1,400-square-foot library.
The library will feature a computerized book checkout system, Berquam said.
The construction also will include installation of a new roof and new carpets.
The project is being funded by a $3.1 million bond passed in 1998. However, not all of that money is going to construction, Berquam said.
Liberty High School is somewhat unusual in that it has a water storage facility and a wastewater treatment plant, Berquam said. A third of the bond money - $1 million - is being held in reserve to replace those facilities next summer.
