An Internet concert Oct. 9 called NetAid will link live shows in London, New Jersey and Geneva by Musicians like Jewel, Counting Crows, Eurythmics, Pete Townshend, Celine Dion and Bono in an attempt to bring attention to world poverty and raise funds to fight it. Organizers, including the U.N. Development Program, hope the Internet will draw the largest audience ever for a live musical event. People will be able to donate money via the NetAid Foundation Web site, to be launched next month, but organizers said their main goal is to highlight extreme poverty and encourage people to join together to fight it. Proceeds will be used to help Kosovar and African refugees. The shows will later be aired on TV.
