Character First Town Meeting Scheduled
Character First, the citywide self-improvement program first proposed to the city by Mayor John Talbott, is growing on a local level.
Supporters have called a town meeting to generate further interest and bring people together at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at the main ballroom of the Downtown DoubleTree Inn.
Talbott introduced the program and handed the reins to John Gutierrez.
The program emphasizes character development by focusing on various qualities including orderliness, forgiveness, punctuality, obedience and attentiveness. A presentation on gratefulness is planned for the meeting.
The Character First program is founded in the teachings of Bill Gothard, president of the Institute in Basic Life Principles.
