Cover letter

I have watched our city government’s progress or lack thereof and have expressed my thoughts in a number of letters to the editor.

I want to “Unlock Progress” with:

Accountability. This starts with me by ensuring that accountability becomes the hallmark of City Hall. I intend to fully support the people in accordance with the Municipal Code of Spokane.

Independent Auditor. Will give citizens the tools they need to hold elected officials accountable. This function will give a measure of assurance that the policies passed by the elected officials are implemented. Reports will be provided directly to the mayor, council and the citizens Infrastructure. Well maintained, it attracts new businesses. Spokane’s outstanding workforce plus good working conditions assure a well-maintained infrastructure.

Economic Development. We need a downtown Conference Center for Emerging Technologies coupled with academic institutions and private enterprise to prepare Spokane workers for quality jobs of the future in technology, manufacturing and retail.

Commitment to Young Adults. Establish an alliance with all businesses, neighborhoods and schools to develop a mentoring and training program for young adults.
