1 Killed, 1 Wounded In Two Shootings
Two unrelated Stevens County shootings within six hours of each other left a teenager dead, a 47-year-old wounded and a third man jailed.
The first incident happened about 8:40 p.m. Monday in the 1600 block of Williams Lake Road. Sheriff’s deputies arrived at a home there to find a 19-year-old man alone with a gunshot wound to the head, deputies said.
The unidentified man was pronounced dead at a Spokane hospital. The shooting is believed to have been accidental. But an investigation continues, deputies said.
The second shooting happened at 2:24 a.m. Tuesday in Northport.
Deputies were called to a disturbance and found Patrick M. Pratt had been shot in the abdomen, deputies said. He remained in satisfactory condition Tuesday at a Spokane Hospital.
Deputies arrested 53-year-old Donald E. Nichols. He is being held in the Stevens County Jail on a charge of first-degree assault.
