Coeur d’Alene 40, Moscow 39

Coeur d’Alene post Shaylia Davis made the game-winning free throws in the Vikings’ victory over the Bears in Moscow.

Coeur d’Alene’s tough fourthquarter defense gave the Vikings the opportunity at the end to pull off a rally in an A-1 Region I girls game.

CdA (18-5) advances to the championship game. At the least, the Vikings will have three games to earn a state berth.

The championship game will be Tuesday at a site to be determined. Moscow (17-5) can earn a rematch by beating the Post Falls-Lewiston winner.

Lewiston (10-13) is at Post Falls (15-7) tonight in a loser-out game at 7. The winner goes to Moscow on Monday with that winner taking on CdA. If Moscow wins, the championship game will be at Moscow. If the Bears are upset, the final moves to CdA.

The Bengals stayed alive Friday by upsetting Lake City 41-40 at LC.

Lewiston 41, Lake City 40

The Bengals upset the Timberwolves in an A-1 Region I game.

The win marked the first for the Bengals (10-13) over the Timberwolves since Lake City was built. It also gave the Bengals the opportunity to continue play against Post Falls at Post Falls tonight at 7.

LC coach Dave Fealko announced the conclusion of his coaching career after the game. He said he decided a couple of weeks ago that his first season at Lake City (13-9) would be his last.

“You’ve got to spend tons of time,” said Fealko, who had returned to coaching after a three-year break. Fealko served 18 years as head girls coach at Coeur d’Alene High.

“The fire in the heart’s got to burn and ache for basketball,” he said. “I enjoyed the year. The kids were great and I have no regrets. It was fun to be in the battles, but it’s time to let someone else carry on the war.”
