Clark Fork Sweeps Into District Play

Clark Fork completed a perfect season in the North Star League by defeating Kootenai 51-44 on Saturday at Kootenai.

Freshman Shana Worcester led Clark Fork with 16 points. Janelle Scheffelmaier scored a career-high 11 points and added 14 rebounds for Kootenai.

NSL teams begin A-4 District I play today at Post Falls High School.

Top-seeded Clark Fork (12-7) meets No. 4 Mullan (3-16) at 6 p.m., followed by No. 2 Falls Christian (6-11) taking on No. 3 Kootenai (2-14) at 7:45.

The Tigers had the final two shots, but couldn’t get one to fall as they fell at Logos in Moscow.

Tiffinay Hoven led Mullan with 10 points. Shawna Casebolt led Logos with 10 points.

Prairie and Kamiah advanced to the semifinals as the first week of play in the district tourney was completed Saturday.

No reports were received from the teams Saturday.

Prairie topped Lakeside 36-24 and Kamiah prevailed 33-25 over Clearwater Valley in the winner’s bracket games at Moscow Junior High School.

In loser-out games, Lapwai thumped Timberline 58-33 and Potlatch stopped Wallace 42-30.

Play continues Wednesday with a pair of loser-out games. Lapwai (11-9) takes on CV (13-7) in the opener at 6 p.m., followed by Lakeside (17-5) meeting Potlatch (12-10) at 7:30.

Angie Turner scored 17 points and Nikki Yount chipped in with 14 as the Spartans came from behind to eliminate the visiting Wildcats.
