Online Broker Suffers Glitch
Online broker Ameritrade suffered a half-hour outage before stock markets opened Monday, the latest in a series of computer glitches to raise questions about the reliability of Internet trading systems.
The company took down its system from 5:56 a.m. to 6:24 a.m. PST to fix the problem, preventing online customers from placing orders before the opening of stock trading at 6:30 a.m.
The outage also affected the accounts of Accutrade, a smaller online brokerage also run by the same company.
