Golden Egg Trophy Returned, On Stretcher

From Staff

The case of a missing trophy hasn’t been cracked, exactly, but at least the Golden Egg is home.

The egg-shaped trophy is awarded during semiannual spirit competitions between Lakeside and Medical Lake high schools. It had been missing since someone took it from a glass trophy case at Lakeside last month.

The unknown bandits took the egg out on the town, snapping photos of it in local restaurants and delivering the pictures to Lakeside.

Fire District 9 firefighters returned the egg - carried in on a stretcher - during a Lakeside pep assembly Tuesday.

Principal Mike Parker says he still doesn’t know who’s behind the prank.

“Rumors fly,” he said. “I was even accused of it. My secretary was accused of it.”

The egg is in a different nest now - it’s locked in the school vault until the next spirit competition.
