Federated Stores Bids For Fingerhut

Federated Department Stores Inc., the company behind the Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s chains, announced it is buying Fingerhut Cos. Inc., a Minneapolis-based company catalog retailer that specializes in selling to consumers through catalogs and the Internet.

Federated is offering $1.5 billion in cash.
