Somewhere In My Home
Somewhere in my home you’ll find
pictures heaped and piled
of a small boy holding his toy
and the mother holding her child.
Somewhere in my home you’ll find
a small boy’s bat and ball,
a T-shirt stained from dirt and grass,
a worn glove with them all.
Somewhere in my home you’ll find
a piano black and white
where a small boy worked so many hours
until he played it right.
Somewhere in my home you’ll find
a scout book torn and bent
with witness of a small boy’s deeds
and vast accomplishments.
Somewhere in my home you’ll find
a tiny wooden bow
shot by a small boy all day long
in fields where hay would grow.
Somewhere in my home you’ll find
a faded teddy bear
held tight at night by a small boy
protecting from nightmares.
Somewhere in my home you’ll see
that small boy fully grown
saying “thank you for these memories”
such memories I call my own.
