Wilbur Flooding Closes Highway 2

Wilbur residents were battling flood waters Wednesday evening that threatened several businesses and homes.

Goose Creek in Wilbur flooded its banks at 5:30 p.m. Washington State Patrol and volunteer sand bag crews began work at 6 p.m.

U.S. Highway 2 through Wilbur was closed late Wednesday due to water over the roadway on the east and west sides of town.

Warm temperatures and melting snow forced the creek to begin rising about 6 a.m. with several afternoon rain showers pushing the creek over its banks.
