Probation Ordered In Casino Theft Case
A plea agreement with federal prosecutors has landed a former tribal casino employee on probation for failing to report the theft of $20,000 from the business.
Bobbi J. Haveman, 38, of Plummer, will serve a year’s probation and pay a $1,000 fine, Chief U.S. District Court Judge Edward Lodge decided.
Haveman admitted that she did not report what she knew about the theft from the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Bingo Casino when FBI agents questioned her.
Prosecutors had charged Haveman in June 1997 with stealing the money. Haveman pleaded guilty to “misprision of a felony” after a federal jury convicted her daughter, Ezralee Kelly, of aiding and abetting the theft, Barry McHugh, assistant U.S. attorney, said Tuesday.
The jury deadlocked on the theft charge prosecutors had filed against Haveman.
