Lopez Ties For Lead
Nancy Lopez made five birdies in a six-hole stretch and tied the course record with a 6-under 66 to share the first-round lead with Catriona Matthew in the LPGA HealthSouth Inaugural in Orlando, Fla.
Matthew, a 29-year-old from Scotland, who has never won in four years on the LPGA, played without a bogey in her round. Colleen Walker and Akiko Fukushima were among those at 67. Clarkston’s Robin Walton shot a 73.
Brandel Chamblee carded a 66 and grabbed a one-stroke lead at the midway mark of the Sony Open in Honolulu with a 6-under-par total of 134.
First-round leader Tommy Tolles is tied for second at 135 with Mike Hurlbert.
