Panhandlers panned
The panhandling that is occurring along Sullivan Road at the Interstate 90 entrances and exits is very upsetting to me.
I have noticed it since last summer, when a couple of men would be out there on the street a couple of times a week.
Now, it is on every corner and, to my amazement, during Christmas while we had the cold spell, I noticed that down in the large bramble along the east side of the Sullivan bridge, these people have taken up residence!
This is disturbing.
Do these people not know we have shelters available to them? Is this acceptable to other Valley residents?
I realize that these people need our help, but I don’t feel that this is the way to ask for it.
Maybe rather than giving these people fast cash, if we tell them that there are shelters, food banks, etc., we could deter them and get them pointed the right direction. Debbie Nedrow Otis Orchards
