Newport Stops Lakeside’S Run

GNL girls basketball

Newport put an end to three years of frustration and one of the state’s longest winning streaks on Friday.

Carey Sauer totaled 23 points and 16 rebounds, and her sister Rose added five 3-pointers as the Grizzlies defeated visiting Lakeside 82-68 to end the Eagles’ 34-game winning streak.
