Two strangers met for the first time when they exchanged wedding vows Monday in Birmingham, England. Carla Germaine and Greg Cordell were married after winning each other among 200 hopefuls in a “lonely hearts” competition organized by radio station BRMB. Marriage counselors and church leaders have accused the radio station of reducing the institution of marriage to a game show. But the model and the salesman, both in their 20s, dismissed the critics and vowed to make their marriage work. “Everyone expects us to split up,” Cordell said, “but we want to prove them wrong.”
