Timberlake Overpowers Kootenai

Melissa Adams and Angie Campbell sparked Timberlake to a 37-26 non-league girls basketball win over visiting Kootenai on Monday night.

Adams had 13 points and nine rebounds and Campbell 12 points and as many rebounds for the Tigers.

Kootenai, which got 12 rebounds from Amanda Reinhardt, was plagued by 24 turnovers, most fueling a 15-point Timberlake second quarter. The Warriors also hit just 6 of 23 free throws.

Stark wins third hoop shoot

Four Kootenai County youth were winners Saturday in the Elks National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest for the North Idaho district. The six district winners advance to state Feb. 20 in Idaho Falls.

Lindsey Stark of Coeur d’Alene (Bryan Elementary) won the girls 10-11 age group, her third straight overall district win. She made 18 of 25 free throws.

Matthew Marceau of Coeur d’Alene (Ramsey Elementary) won the boys 10-11, his second straight district title. He made 18 of 25 free throws.

Other winners: Casey Ward, Post Falls (Seltice Elementary), 8-9 boys (19 of 25); Jessica Smalley, CdA (Borah Elementary), girls 8-9 (22 of 25); Josh Ackerman, Priest River (Priest River Junior High), boys 12-13 (21 of 25); and Autumn Smith, Pinehurst (Kellogg Middle School), girls 12-13 division (21 of 25).
