Alpine skiing/snowboarding

Silver Mountain is offering a Friday Night skiing special through Feb. 26. Adults can ski for $12 and juniors/seniors for $10. Discount tickets for $2 off can be picked up at Burger King restaurants.

Super Bowl Sunday all skiers who pick the game’s winner when they purchase a full-price lift ticket at Mount Bachelor will win a lift ticket for use between March 29 and season’s end.

Red Mountain has a Ski-and-Stay special Sunday-Thursday, one night and one lift ticket starting at $34 a person. Info: (800) 999-4616.

Schweitzer will host Winter Carnival ‘99 Saturday. Many fun family events and contests are planned with a torchlight parade at 5 p.m.

Nordic skiing

Also at Schweitzer this weekend will be the Selkirk Telemark Classic XVII. Competitors will go through a mix of slalom and super giant slalom gates as well as jumps, flats and an uphill section. Info: (208) 263-6028.

Two Canadian areas report excellent nordic ski conditions this week: Fairmont and Kimberly, both in British Columbia.

Snowmobiling

Schweitzer Mountain Resort has snowmobile tours for $99 per person or two people per sled at $125 for a 2-1/2-hour tour. Info/reservations: (800) 831-8810.
